plug

plug [ plug ]


noun  (plural plugs)
Definition:
 
1. filler for hole: something used to fill and tightly close up a hole

2. stopper for sink: a rubber or plastic stopper for the drainage hole in a sink or bath

3. electrical connection: the connection at the end of the wire leading from an electrical device, with prongs or pins that allow it to fit into the socket of a power supply

4. socket: an electrical socket, e.g. on a wall ( informal )

5. publicizing mention: a favorable mention of something to publicize it, e.g. during a broadcast about something else ( informal )

6. wedge for screw: a hollow piece of plastic pushed inside a hole to act as a holder for a screw that, when inserted, makes the plug expand and completely fill the hole

7. fireplug: a fireplug

8. automotive
