Definition:
 
1. positive development: development, usually of a gradual kind, toward achieving a goal or reaching a higher standard
making progress in the talks

2. advance of human society: the general advance of human society and industry over time toward a state of greater civilization

4. royal tour: an official tour by a reigning king or queen through his or her kingdom ( archaic )

in progress currently happening or being done


The o in the noun progress can be pronounced two ways and both are correct: /próg rèss, prṓ grèss, /. The first variant is, however, slightly more common in U.S. English as opposed to Canadian English, which prefers the second variant.
