Word Usage
prophecy or prophesy?

Though spelled almost alike, these two words are pronounced differently and have different grammatical functions. Prophecy, a noun only, means "a prediction or the ability to predict the future," as in a dire economic prophecy.Prophesy, a verb, means "to predict," as in would not go so far as to prophesy a recession just yet.
