1. activity stimulating public interest: activity, especially advertising and the dissemination of information, designed to increase public interest in or awareness of something or somebody ( often used before a noun )
The event was dismissed as a mere publicity stunt.

2. interest created by publicity: public or media interest gained as a result of publicizing something
We got more publicity from that one newspaper photograph than from a hundred advertisements.

3. attention-getting information: information, material, or other means used to publicize something or somebody
The lawsuit that turned out to be great publicity.

4. condition of being public: the condition of being known or available to the public ( formal )
