Definition:
 
1. piece of armor carried on arm: a flat or convex piece of armor carried on the arm and used as a protection against weapon blows, arrows, bullets, or projectiles

2. protection or defense: somebody or something that serves as protection or acts as a defense

3. coat of arms: a shield or a shield-shaped insignia that contains somebody's coat of arms

4. prize or trophy: a prize or trophy, especially in a sports competition, that is made in the shape of a shield

5. decorative official emblem: a decorative device used as an official emblem by a government or organization, usually containing symbolic images associated with the government's territory or the organization's purpose
