Definition:
 
1. stiff outer covering for foot: an outer covering for the foot, usually made of leather, fabric, or plastic, with a stiff sole and usually not reaching above the ankle

2.

3. mechanical engineering device to slow something down: a device that slows or stops the movement of an object, e.g. the part of a brake that presses against the drum
