Vertigo, a movie (1958) by British director Alfred Hitchcock. One of Hitchcock's most highly regarded films, it is both a typically suspenseful thriller and a powerful study of obsession. When former policeman Scottie Fergusson is asked to shadow a friend's wife, he first falls in love with her and then, after her suicide, becomes infatuated with a woman who appears to be her double.
