Definition:
 
1. prove something: to prove that something is true

2. check whether something is true: to check whether or not something is true by examination, investigation, or comparison

3. law swear something under oath: in law, to swear or affirm under oath that something is true

4. law attest to truth by affidavit: in law, to support the truth of a pleading by affidavit
