Pots·dam [ póts dàm ] city in northeastern Germany approximately 29 km (18 mi) southwest of Berlin. It was the site of the Potsdam Conference (July-August 1945), at which U.S., British, and Soviet leaders discussed the postwar administration of Germany.
Population: 145,700 (2005 estimate).
