1. city in Oregon, situated in the northwestern part of the state on the Willamette River. It is the state's largest city and its economic and cultural center. Population: 537,081 (2006).
2. city in southwestern Maine, on the southern shore of Casco Bay, northeast of Saco. Population: 63,889 (2005 estimate).
