shank [ shangk ]


noun  (plural shanks)
Definition:
 
1. long narrow part: the long narrowest part of something such as a key or pipe, especially when it connects two functional parts

2. cut of meat: a cut of meat from the leg of cattle, hogs, or sheep

3. bottom of animal leg: the lower part of an animal's leg, between the bottom and middle joints

4. lower leg: the lower part of the human leg, from ankle to knee

5. leg: a human leg ( informal )

6. mechanical engineering body of pin or nail: the long narrow part of a pin, nail, screw, or bolt, between the head and the pointed or threaded part
