Definition:
 
1. harsh grating sound: a harsh grating sound, similar to that of a rasp or saw cutting into wood

2. large-toothed file: a tool used for scraping or smoothing wood or metal, similar to a file, but with larger teeth on its cutting surface

3. act of smoothing something: the act of smoothing the surface of something such as wood or metal with a rasp
