peace or piece? Do not confuse the spelling of peace and piece, which sound similar. Peace is a lack of noise, disturbance, disagreement, or warfare, as in peace and quiet, a breach of the peace, make peace, not war. A piece is a part or item, as in fall to pieces, a piece of music.
