passable

pass·a·ble [ pássəb'l ]

adjective
Definition:

1. acceptable: good enough but not excellent

2. able to be crossed: capable of being crossed or traveled on

3. able to be enacted: describes proposed legislation that is able to be passed or made law

4. suitable for circulation: describes money that is suitable for circulation as legal and valid

pass·a·bly adverb

Spelling Note

passable or possible? Do not confuse the spelling of passable and possible, which sound similar. Passable means "acceptable" or "able to be passed (along, around, etc.)," as in a passable essay, roads that are not passable in winter. Possible, the more frequent of the two words, means "capable of happening or being true," as in the only possible explanation.
