Definition:
 
1. intransitive verb change substance: in Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox doctrine, to undergo a change in substance, from bread and wine to the body and blood of Jesus Christ during Communion

2. transitive and intransitive verb change substance: to change from one substance into another, or change something from one substance into another ( formal )
