| Three Mile Is·land [ thr mīl lənd ] island in the Susquehanna River, near Harrisburg, southeastern Pennsylvania. An accidental release of radioactivity at the nuclear plant on the island in 1979 led to stricter regulation of the U.S. nuclear industry. |
