Definition:
 
1. reflexive of "they" or "them": used to refer to a group of people or things when the object of a verb is the same as the subject
They all made themselves at home.

2. their normal selves: their real or normal selves ( usually used in negative statements )
They haven't been themselves since the accident.

3. emphasizing: used to emphasize the people or things being referred to
They themselves would rather have gone to a movie.

4. himself or herself: used to refer to an individual person without using "himself" or "herself" ( informal )
Everyone needs to take care of themselves.
