1. incite desire in somebody: to cause desire or craving to arise in somebody
I was tempted by that chocolate cake!

2. incite somebody to transgression: to persuade or attempt to persuade somebody to do something considered wrong

3. be inviting to somebody: to be inviting or attractive to somebody
The sightseeing tour tempted us.

4. risk something: to risk the possible destructive powers of something
tempt fate
