1. plug of material used during menstruation: a cylindrical plug of soft material inserted in the vagina during menstruation to absorb blood

2. pad to control bleeding: a pad of cotton or other absorbent fabric that is used for plugging wounds or for controlling blood flow in body cavities, especially during surgery
