Definition:
 
1. provide: to give, sell, or make available something that is wanted or needed by somebody or something

2. satisfy need: to satisfy a need or requirement ( formal )

3. make up for lack: to make up for a deficiency, loss, or lack

4. serve as substitute in institution: to act as a substitute in a place such as a church ( formal )
