	The Last Supper, a painting (1495-1497) by Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci. Painted directly onto a wall in the monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, it depicts the moment when Jesus Christ declares that one of his companions will betray him. It is noted for its magnificent composition and powerful depiction of the outrage of the disciples, the serenity of Jesus Christ, and the guilt of Judas.
