1. caption for foreign-language movie: a printed translation of the dialogue in a foreign-language movie, usually appearing at the bottom of the screen

2. caption in silent movie: a caption for the action or dialogue of a silent movie, appearing at intervals as a full-screen panel

3. lesser title: a second and subsidiary title for something such as a book
