1. recording phonograph needle: the jewel-tipped needle of a phonograph that rests in the grooves of a record as it revolves and transmits vibrations to the cartridge

2. electronics machine tracing pen: the tracing pen on an electronic device such as a seismograph or polygraph that converts an electrical signal into a written record

3. graphic arts history engraving tool: a pointed instrument used for engraving, especially one used in ancient times for writing on clay or wax tablets

4. comput device for touching screen: a pointed device for use on a computer screen that responds to pressure
