transitive verb 
Definition:
 
1. diminish interest: to dull somebody's interest by being repetitive, tedious, and boring

2. make somebody seem stupid: to cause somebody or something to seem unintelligent or silly

3. render something useless: to render something useless or ineffectual

4. law prove somebody incapable of legal responsibility: to show or allege somebody to be not legally responsible because of a psychiatric disorder or instability
