Definition:
 
1. intransitive verb set off: to begin moving in a particular direction, or begin a journey
She turned and started off up the hill.

2. transitive and intransitive verb begin: to begin to do something, or cause or help somebody to begin to do something
Let's start off by introducing ourselves.

3. transitive verb make somebody start talking or laughing: to do something that causes somebody else to start doing something such as talking, laughing, crying, or misbehaving ( informal )
