stance [ stanss ] (plural stanc·es)

Definition:
 
1. attitude toward something: an attitude or view that somebody takes about something

2. way of standing: the way that a person or an animal stands

3. position of wheels: the position of a vehicle's wheels in relation to its bodywork
The newer model has a wider stance and a taller cab.

4. position of player: the position in which a player holds the body in attempting to hit a ball, e.g. in baseball or golf

5. climbing place for pitching and belaying: a place where a mountain climber can pitch and belay

6. Scotland transportation transportation waiting place: a place where buses or taxis wait for passengers
