Definition:
 
1. transitive and intransitive verb shrivel: to shrivel or dry up as part of the process of dying, or make something, especially a plant or part of a plant, shrivel in this way

2. intransitive verb fade away: to fade or lose freshness or vitality

3. transitive and intransitive verb become or make somebody less confident: to make somebody feel embarrassed, foolish, or incapable of activity as the object of scorn or contempt, or lose confidence in the face of somebody's scorn
