verb  (past and past participle wiped, present participle wip·ing, 3rd person present singular wipes)
Definition:
 
1. transitive verb rub something with light strokes: to rub something with long light strokes with a soft material, or rub something lightly on a soft material
wiped their hands on the towel

2. transitive and intransitive verb remove or be removed by rubbing: to remove something such as dirt with long light rubbing strokes, usually with a soft material, or be removed in this way
