Definition:
 
1. open to great extent: open to a great extent, or as much as possible
The door was wide open.

2. unpredictable: not as yet decided or even predictable in outcome
The match is still wide open.

3. vulnerable to attack: unprotected and therefore able to be attacked easily

4. U.S. without laws or law enforcement: with few laws regulating such things as prostitution, gambling, or the sale of alcohol, or not stringently enforcing the laws that do exist ( informal )
