Westphalia
West·pha·lia [ west fáylyə, west fáylee ə ] former province in northeastern Germany, in the present-day state of North-Rhine Westphalia. The Peace of Westphalia, signed at Münster and Osnabrück in 1648, marked the end of the Thirty Years' War.
