seat [ seet ]


noun  (plural seats)
Definition:
 
1. place to sit: something for sitting on, especially something designed for this, e.g. a chair or bench

2. part of chair sat on: the usually horizontal part of a chair or other seat that takes most of the weight of the person sitting on it

3. viewer's or traveler's sitting place: a place to sit and watch an event or travel in a vehicle, for which a ticket is usually required
We reserved seats in the front row.

4. part of garment covering buttocks: the part of a garment that covers the buttocks

5. membership in official group: a position as a member of an official body or group, especially in an elected legislature
