1. flat-headed fish: a fish, mostly bottom-dwelling, with a large flat head, large pectoral fins, and spines. Native to: North American coasts.  Family Cottidae.

2. scorpion fish: a scorpion fish with venomous spines, caught for food and for sport. Native to: southern California coast.  Latin name Scorpaena guttata.
