1. either of pair of oars: either one of a pair of relatively short oars used by a single rower

2. light racing boat: a light narrow racing boat propelled by one, two, or four rowers using sculls

3. single oar at back of boat: a single oar that is moved from side to side at the stern of a boat to propel the boat forward
