Wales

Wales [ waylz ] principality in Great Britain, part of the United Kingdom. Once a separate kingdom, it was united with England in 1536. It voted in 1997 to have its own assembly, and as a result has a degree of self-government.
Capital: Cardiff.
Population: 2,952,000 (2004 estimate).
Area: 20,760 sq km (8,015 sq mi)
