1. up to time: up to a time or event, but not afterward
 (conj) I lived with my grandparents until I was ten.
 (prep) from the late 1980s until 1994

2. before: before a time or event ( used in negative statements )
 (conj) She agreed not to write about the case until a verdict was reached.
 (prep) He did not open his mail until Monday.
