United Arab Republic

U·ni·ted Ar·ab Re·pub·lic [ y ntəd àrrəb ri púbblik ] former independent union between Egypt and Syria, founded in 1958. It was disbanded when Syria left the union in 1961, although Egypt retained the name until 1971.
