Zag·ros Moun·tains [ zàg ross mównt'nz ] mountain range in southwestern Iran, extending from the borders with Turkey and Azerbaijan in the north to the Persian Gulf in the south. The highest peak is Zard Kuh, 4,548 m (14,921 ft).
