noun  (plural yeasts)
Definition:
 
1. small single-celled fungus: a small single-celled fungus that ferments sugars and other carbohydrates and reproduces by budding. Genus Saccharomyces.

2. preparation for baking: a commercial preparation of yeast cells. Use: brewing, baking, food supplement.

3. froth: the yellowish froth that forms on the surface of a fermenting liquid such as beer, contains yeast cells and carbon dioxide, and promotes fermentation

4. foam: a foam or froth, e.g. on sea waves

5. cause of unrest or activity: somebody or something that causes ferment, activity, or unrest
