Definition:
 
1. transitive and intransitive verb wake: to wake somebody, or to awaken, from sleep or unconsciousness

2. transitive verb shake somebody out of apathy: to stir somebody into action or a more active state, or become more active
He roused even the most apathetic students to something like enthusiasm for the subject.

3. transitive verb cause emotion: to cause a particular emotion to be felt
