rod

rod [ rod ] (plural rods)

Definition:
 
1. thin stick: a narrow, usually cylindrical length of wood, metal, plastic, or other material

2. fishing 
Same as  fishing rod


3. whipping stick: a stick, or bundle of sticks tied together, used for whipping somebody as a punishment

4. surveying pole: a graduated pole used by surveyors for sighting with a leveling instrument to determine elevation differences
