Definition:
 
1. intransitive verb stand up: to assume a standing or nearly vertical position after sitting, kneeling, or lying

2. intransitive verb ascend: to go up to a higher position or location
Disturbed by our footsteps, the birds rose above the trees.

3. intransitive verb get higher: to gain a greater height or level
After heavy rains the river rose dangerously.
