Definition:
 
1. transitive and intransitive verb make sound of bell: to make a metallic sound when struck or played, or cause something such as a bell to make this sound

2. transitive and intransitive verb make sound to alert somebody: to produce a continuous or regular high-pitched sound to alert somebody, or make something produce such a sound

3. intransitive verb echo loudly: to be full of a loud, high-pitched, or reverberating sound, especially laughter or applause
