Scone [ skoon ] village in central Scotland, near the Tay River. It is famous for the Stone of Destiny on which Scottish kings were crowned, which was originally located there. The stone was moved to Westminster Abbey, London, England, by Edward I in 1296 then returned to Edinburgh Castle in 1996.
Population: 4,533 (1991).
