Definition:
 
illness cause by blood infection: an often chronic illness that results from infection of the blood with a parasitic flatworm schistosome. It causes debilitation and can cause liver and intestinal damage. It is most common in Asia, Africa, and South America, especially in areas where the water is contaminated by freshwater snails that carry the parasite.
