Definition:
 
1. curb actions that show feelings: to check or restrain an action that would reveal feelings
He had to repress a smile.

2. suppress something by force: to control a population or an expression of people's freedom by force or military means
repressed any uprising

3. psychology block something from mind: in Freudian psychology, to block unacceptable or painful impulses, desires, or memories from the conscious mind
