Definition:
 
1. transitive verb get something back: to regain something lost or its equivalent

2. intransitive verb make up for loss: to make up for something lost
It will take us years to recoup.

3. transitive verb law deduct something: to deduct legally part of what is due to a claim

4. transitive verb reimburse another: to give another party something to make up for that which has been lost
We were adequately recouped for our losses.
