1. transitive verb regard somebody or something as something: to consider somebody or something to be something ( often passive )
She's reckoned the best in her field.

2. transitive and intransitive verb count: to count or calculate something

3. transitive verb include somebody or something: to include or class a person or thing as being part of a particular group
I reckon him among my friends.

4. transitive and intransitive verb think or believe something: to suppose something to be true ( informal )

Regional History

The informal use of reckon meaning "think, believe" and introducing a clause (with the word that present or suppressed), as in the sentence I reckon you're right, is chiefly dialectal in U.S. English, commonly occurring in Midland and Southern U.S. speech.
