live oak [ lv ṓk ] (plural live oaks)

evergreen oak of S United States: a very large evergreen oak with a short broad trunk, leathery leaves, and hard timber, often grown for shade. Native to: Texas, east through the southeastern United States.  Latin name Quercus virginianus.
