1. something quoted: a piece of speech or writing quoted somewhere, e.g. in a book or magazine

2. quoting of somebody's words: the quoting of what somebody has said or written

3. U.K. business 
Same as  quoten (sense 3)


4. stock exchange stock price: the prevailing price at which a stock, bond, or commodity may be purchased or sold

5. stock exchange quoting of prices: the quoting of prevailing stock, bond, or commodity market prices

6. arts reuse of artistic material: the use in an artistic work, especially music, of material taken from or alluding to somebody else's work
