Quaker

Quak·er [ kwáykər ] (plural Quak·ers)

noun
Definition:

member of Society of Friends: a member of the Society of Friends, a Christian denomination founded in England in the 17th century that rejects formal sacraments, ministry, and creed, and is committed to pacifism. At meetings members are encouraged to speak when they feel moved to do so.

[Late 17th century. Probably because founder George Fox (1624-1691) admonished that they should "tremble at the word of the Lord"]
